Here in London we’re always on the look out for new places to eat at, and what better one to try than an Only Fools and Horses-inspired restaurant?

Only Food and Courses serves the likes of jellied eel and minted lamb, run by Brixton’s very own Del Boy and Rodney.

Chef Robbie Lorraine and restaurateur Martyn Barrett have just opened their first site in the popular food and drink spot, Pop Brixton.

The hilarious pun in this particular restaurant’s name is no doubt a nod to the iconic British comedy set in Peckham, which is just down the road.

Inspired by popular culture and iconic food trends from the 1980s and 90s, Robbie and Martyn have transformed nostalgic flavours into modern signature dishes.

To coincide with the grand opening of their indoor site yesterday (May 17), the duo have created an exclusive tasting menu, known as the ‘supper club menu’, which changes weekly.

Expect to find crab scotch eggs, short rib hash and lobster doughnuts, which can be ordered alongside classic 80s cocktails such as Tequila Sunrise, Blue Lagoon and The Maverick.

Chef Robbie, who was inspired by his childhood, says: “Taking food from the 80s and 90s and putting our unique spin on them is what we are all about.

“Our British street food being served on our terrace is going down a treat and we can’t wait to get going with our six-course supper club.”

Another take on nostalgic British food is the classic prawn cocktail, which, according to food critic Jay Rayner, ‘both is and isn’t’ your average prawn cocktail.

The site caters for 28 guests at a time and could be mistake for a greasy spoon café.

The official Only Food and Courses site reads: “bring your mates, but leave your preconceptions at the door.”
