A much loved, popular wine bar and tapas restaurant, The Tapas Room has announced on Twitter that its fifth branch will be opening in Peckham on May 17.

It will replace the former Crown Hotel on Peckham High Street and will be the team’s largest restaurant and bar to date.

As a wine shop, tapas bar and delicatessen, The Tapas Room combines dining and shopping into one.

The Tapas Room serves a range of authentic Spanish tapas dishes, from classic Padron peppers to a delicious pork belly fried in cider and finished with a membrillo and sherry glaze.

Nibbles, tapas dishes, cured meats, cheeses and desserts cost under £10, while meat and cheese platters cost under £15.

Another great thing about The Tapas Room is their tapas dishes vary in each branch, so be sure to visit them all to discover every meat and vegetarian plate on offer.

Customers can also enjoy a selection of Spanish wines, sherry, cava, vermouth and craft beers with their meals.

The Tapas Room was founded by Paul Belcher, who opened his first site in Broadway Market Tooting in 2017.

Another site was opened in Deptford Market Yard in 2019, while sites in Battersea and Brixton Village miraculously opened in the middle of the pandemic.

Speaking in Bdaily News, founder Paul said: “We have been eyeing up an opening in Peckham for a while.

“We know a lot of customers from the other sites live around the area and we wanted to bring The Tapas Room to a brand new pocket of London and one that still has that local feel to it.

“Our aim for Peckham is an accessible, informal restaurant where people can easily learn about wine, try delicious food, and enjoy a bit of Spain in South London.”
