Another Liverpool takeaway has been slammed by city health inspectors.
Pizza Oscar on East Prescot Road has been told major improvement is necessary at its venue and has been slapped with a one out of five rating according to information made available by the Food Standards Agency. Inspectors from Liverpool Council ’s environmental health team paid a visit to Pizza Oscar in April and were left less than impressed by what they found.
While it was said the hygienic food standards at the East Prescot Road shop was generally satisfactory, the Food Standards Agency report was not so kind to the cleanliness and condition of the building and facilities where it was deemed major improvements were needed immediately. The same was said of the takeaway’s management of food safety, and questioned if it had “system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.”

On its website, Pizza Oscar said it provides “great meals and a matching world-class service.” It added: “We are a great restaurant that is committed to giving you the best dishes.
“With an extensive menu that has all the best dishes in the city and a cosy atmosphere, you will enjoy your dining experience at our restaurant. At our restaurant, it’s all about giving you the kind of time that will linger in your memory for a very long time.”
Pizza Oscar claims online to serve “dishes that are irresistible and fresh at all times” and customers visit not only “to get their bellies full at the premises but also to fulfil their culinary dreams. Indeed, our restaurant is a food lover’s dream.”
The shop describes its food as “so rich” and its service as “so pure” and has given its clientele “impressive dishes and they have accorded us the respect we deserve by being loyal to us.”
Inspectors from Liverpool Council visited the shop on April 20 with the limited findings made public online a month later. A spokesperson for Pizza Oscar said the business was inspected based on how it was left by the previous owners and new management were putting plans in place for a new inspection.
The spokesperson added that efforts were being made to improve standards ahead of a new inspection.
