Recent research published in the British medical journal finds the healthier you are the richer you become. Scientists examined the link between health and wealth in rich countries and found people who are healthy are more productive at work and earn more. They spend more days in the work force because they don’t take as much time off because they are sick. A population survey done on this subject, had 2068 women and 2314 men with linked income data analysis was used to calculate mean income levels within these educational and occupational groups.

Compared with normal weight women, obese women with higher education or in upper white collar positions have significantly lower income levels. Excess body weight was not associated with income disadvantages in men. It may seem obvious but investing in weight loss can produce big returns for individuals and especially women.
